In partnership with IEP_Berlin, Georgia’s Reforms Associates (GRASS) organized an advocacy visit to Berlin. The meetings were held at Federal Chancellery and Federal Foreign Office of Germany, as well as with the representatives of Democracy Reporting International, Berlin Center for Caspian and Eurasian Studies, the Centre for East European and International Studies (ZOiS).

During the meetings, domestic political developments in Georgia, such as the growing challenges on the path of the country’s democratic development, were discussed. In addition, GRASS presented recent research paper ("One step closer – Georgia, EU-integration, and the settlement of the frozen conflicts?"), which analyzes how Abkhazia could benefit from the overall process of Georgia’s Europeanization, including the possibility of applying the benefits of the EU-Georgia free trade to businesses and consumers in Abkhazia.

At the end of the visit, a round-table discussion was organized with the participation of representatives of German think-tanks, media and NGO, where the research paper was presented and discussed. The round-table was organized in partnership with European Council of Foreign Relations (ECFR-Berlin).

GRASS would like to express special thanks to the Institute for European Politics (Institut für Europäische Politik) for organizing the visit and to European Council of Foreign Relations (ECFR Berlin) for hosting the round-table discussion.

The visit to Berlin was held in the framework of the project “Europeanization beyond process”, funded by Open Society Initiative for Europe (OSIFE).
