We would like to express our concern regarding the recent steps taken by Georgia’s Prime Minister and the Government of Georgia, which signal possible changes in the country’s foreign policy course.

The statements made by the Prime Minister during his visit to Armenia concerning the unconditional restoration of the railway route through Abkhazia, possible changes in Georgia’s foreign policy priorities, as well as the Prime Minister’s mentioning of Armenia’s foreign policy course as being “exemplary”, raise an important question: how firm is the government’s commitment to its course towards Euro-Atlantic integration?

The fact that the Deputy Foreign Minister quit his job and the Prime Minister deprived the Defense Minister of the status of a Vice Prime Minister are also alarming signals.

We believe that a rapid and clear explanation is needed from the government.

Therefore we demand that a meeting be held between the government’s foreign policy team and representatives of non-governmental organizations in order for the public to better understand the course of the country’s development and foreign policy.
