Main goal of the project was to advocate for evidence and facts based debate within the Parliament of Georgia and during the 2013 Presidential elections.
Objectives of the project were to:
- Contribute to the change of political rhetoric from the allegations and value-judgment rhetoric to the facts and evidence based rhetoric.
- Keep politicians accountable for their public statements; - Empower voters for informed voting;
- Advocate for transparent and responsive political/electoral actors;
- Contribute to facts-based, credibly informed debates on public policies. –
- Increase public awareness on the accuracy of statements made by politicians.
During the project, FactCheck’s working team was established; Factchecking guidelines were developed; “Factcheck” was introduced to the political parties, civil society, NGOs, media; parliamentary debates and presidential elections were fact-checked.
